OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma will seek its third straight national softball title and seventh championship overall at the Women’s College World Series.The Sooners set the NCAA Division I record with their 48th consecutive win in an 8-7 victory over Clemson on Saturday to win the Norman Super Regional. (AP) — Ally Shipman had a two-run single, Jenna Johnson drove in what proved to be the winning run with a fifth-inning home run and Alabama held off Northwester 3-2 to win the best-of-3 Tuscaloosa Super Regional after a 61-minute lightning delay on Sunday, advancing to the Women’s College World Series.The victory in the rubber game of the series earns the fifth-seeded Crimson Tide (45-20) their 11th appearance in the WCWS. At least one alligator has been spotted swimming in a lake in Homestead close to where children and pets play, drawing safety concerns from residents at a nearby apartment complex.Speaking with 7News on Saturday, residents of the Colony Lakes Apartments said they’re alarmed and afraid.“Very scary,” said a resident.Resident Jorge Alonso said he has spotted two of the large reptiles within the complex, located off East Mowry Drive.“You couldn’t see him. MESA, Ariz. (AP) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with five separate shootings in the Phoenix metro area that left four people dead and a woman wounded, authorities said Sunday.Mesa police said 20-year-old Iren Byers was taken into custody Sunday on suspicion of four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.A motive for the shootings wasn’t immediately clear, but police said Byers took responsibility for the shootings and told officers where they could find the clothes and gun used in the crimes.Police said video surveillance footage showed the suspect wearing the clothing reported by witnesses at multiple shooting scenes.The names of the victims were being withheld Sunday until relatives could be notified. TOKYO (AP) — North Korea has notified neighboring Japan that it plans to launch a satellite in coming days, which may be an attempt to put Pyongyang’s first military reconnaissance satellite into orbit.Japan’s coast guard said the notice it received from North Korean waterway authorities said the launch window was from May 31 and June 11 and that the launch may affect waters in the Yellow Sea, East China Sea and east of the Philippines’ Luzon Island.Japan’s coast guard issued a safety warning for ships that would be passing through the area during the launch window.
