For the person or people bold enough to shoot teenaged girls, killing a 14-year-old in St. Paul, community members demanded Thursday they also be bold enough to turn themselves in.“Show them how tough you are now and be accountable,” said Marea Perry, whose 21-year-old son was murdered in St. Paul in 2019.The shootings happened in a parking lot of an apartment building on Hazelwood Street near East Maryland Avenue in the Prosperity Heights area of the Greater East Side.Multiple 911 callers and an officer on patrol reported hearing gunshots in the area of Hazelwood Street and East Maryland Avenue about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. The calls led officers to the 1200 block of Hazelwood Street, and they found three teen girls who were injured.Paramedics took them to Regions Hospital, where 14-year-old Monica Holley, of St. Paul, died. AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Tuesday, State Troopers arrested Donald G. Brown, 47, of Johnstown following a traffic stop on West Main Street in Amsterdam. Police say felony-weight narcotics, controlled substances, and drug paraphernalia were located inside the vehicle. Now, that law has been expanded even more to include all vehicles that are off to the side."When it came to my attention, I actually already thought this was law, meaning that you had to pull over for emergency and non-emergency vehicles," explained Senator Lea Webb, who sponsored the bill. "This provides continued safety for drivers."According to AAA, 37 people in New York State were hit and killed on the roadside between 2016 and 2020. ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An 18-year-old man in Albany has been arrested following a stabbing investigation, according to police. The man faces multiple charges. ST. LOUIS – There is a mural that you may not have noticed along the Mississippi River. The picture is of a woman in a river with the sun behind her. It depicts Mary Meachum, who attempted to rescue enslaved people by getting them from Missouri to Illinois. The mural is located on the Mississippi Greenway on the flood wall. You can bike or walk to the site from North Riverfront Park. In 2018, a team of apprentices from St. Louis Artworks made a new mural to highlight the history of this site.Historian and Mary Meachum Director Angela Da Silva shares the story of Meachum on her YouTube channel, explaining how Meachum became known for her role in the Freedom Crossing and the reason behind her mural.
